{"id":400,"date":"2014-08-22T08:08:35","date_gmt":"2014-08-22T06:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/devpath.pro\/?p=400"},"modified":"2014-08-22T08:08:35","modified_gmt":"2014-08-22T06:08:35","slug":"being-really-agile-being-really-smart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fabiocicerchia.it\/methodologies\/being-really-agile-being-really-smart","title":{"rendered":"Being really agile, Being really smart"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/agilemanifesto.org\/\">Agile Manifesto<\/a>\u00a0has the following 4 core values:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><em>Individuals and interactions over processes and tools<\/em><br \/>this means to <strong>communicate<\/strong>, a lot.<\/li>\n<li><em>Working software over comprehensive documentation<\/em><br \/>if you are working on something that is\u00a0<strong>not working properly<\/strong> why bother documenting what&#8217;s doing (and maybe it&#8217;s even going to change). Also, the customer will use \/ buy the software, not the documentation.<\/li>\n<li><em>Customer collaboration over contract negotiation<\/em><br \/>the requirements cannot be collected at the beginning and\u00a0<strong>will change<\/strong>\u00a0during the development cycle, so\u00a0<strong>continuous feedback <\/strong>is needed.<\/li>\n<li><em>Responding to change over following a plan<\/em><br \/>it doesn&#8217;t mean\u00a0<strong>have no plan<\/strong>\u00a0at all, it&#8217;s just about to\u00a0<strong>be flexible<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/antiagilemanifesto.com\/\">Anti Agile Manifesto<\/a>\u00a0is telling exactly what the things really are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Epics are really just projects<\/li>\n<li>Stories are really just use cases<\/li>\n<li>Sprints are really just work<\/li>\n<li>Stand-ups are really just meetings<\/li>\n<li>Iterations are really just versions<\/li>\n<li>Backlogs are really just to-do lists<\/li>\n<li>Backlog grooming is really just planning<\/li>\n<li>Burn-down charts are really just earned value charts<\/li>\n<li>Velocity is really just output<\/li>\n<li>And those tasks, in fact, are really just tasks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/minifesto.org\/\">Minifesto<\/a>\u00a0has got the following points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Fight for Pareto&#8217;s law, look for the 20% of effort that will give you the 80% of results.<\/li>\n<li>Prioritize, minimalism isn&#8217;t about not doing things but about focusing first in the important.<\/li>\n<li>Perfect is the enemy of good, first do it, then do it right, then do it better.<\/li>\n<li>Kill the baby, don&#8217;t be afraid of starting all over again. Fail soon, learn fast.<\/li>\n<li>Add value. Think constantly how you can help your team and position yourself in that field\/skill.<\/li>\n<li>Basics, first. Follow always top-down thinking starting by the best-practises of CS.<\/li>\n<li>Think different. Simple is harder than complex, which means you&#8217;ll need to use your creativity.<\/li>\n<li>Synthesis is the key to communication. We have to write code for humans not machines.<\/li>\n<li>Keep it plain. Try to keep your designs with a few layers of indirection.<\/li>\n<li>Clean kipple and redundancy. Minimalism is all about removing distractions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So,\u00a0<em>stop following blindly a trend<\/em>\u00a0just because it&#8217;s cool or because everyone is using it or talking about it and start actually to find what really works for you.<br \/><strong>Don&#8217;t waste too much time and money on something that is not paying back.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Agile Manifesto\u00a0has the following 4 core values: Individuals and interactions over processes and toolsthis means to communicate, a lot.
