Since I&#8217;m not really willing to spend ~150\u20ac for a Pi which usually costs less than half, I&#8217;ve decided to go for a real pc, small in dimensions though, or at least what I was thinking&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve got another deal on a second-hand computer, a <a href=\"https:\/\/pcsupport.lenovo.com\/gb\/en\/products\/desktops-and-all-in-ones\/thinkcentre-e-series-desktops\/thinkcentre-e73\/10au\/10au003dix\/pb00wf2c\">Lenovo ThinkCentre E73<\/a>. It&#8217;s really a nice one, with an i5 and the possibility to change the CPU because it is not bolted on the motherboard.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1980\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1980\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1980 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221126_pc-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"510\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1980\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I present you proxmox01, at least what will it be of it \ud83d\ude42<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1979\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1979\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1979 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221126_inside_2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"510\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1979\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">it came with a 500GB HDD, really not too bad for the price.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1978\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1978\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1978 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221126_inside-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"510\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1978\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I was able to get my hands on another one exactly like it to build my proxmox cluster, but it doesn&#8217;t really fit properly into the rack. I guess I&#8217;ll settle down with this one for the moment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2015\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2015\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2015 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/cpu-1024x771.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"512\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2015\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">pleased to see that it was not a BGA socket, but an LGA one, which means that I can change the CPU to upgrade it. Not too much of a vast choice due to the compatibilities, but still better than nothing. Also, I believe it&#8217;s time to change the thermal paste&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1982\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1982\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1982 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221128_error-1024x475.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"315\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1982\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I burned the image on a USB dongle, stick it into it, then realised that the CPU wasn&#8217;t supporting the virtualization, started to cry but&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1981\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1981\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1981 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221128_bios-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"510\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1981\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8230; it was just a matter of enabling it in the BIOS, lucky me!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1983\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1983\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1983 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/20221128_install-1024x574.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"381\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1983\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">there it is, ready to be installed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2016\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2016\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2016 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-from-2023-01-23-20-33-24-1024x488.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"324\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2016\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">here&#8217;s the web GUI, in all its glory while serving a local Kubernetes cluster and a PiHole \ud83d\ude42<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So now, the only thing left is to find the time to experiment with my local dev Kubernetes cluster, and add a bunch of extra VMs and tools to it.
